Hi, I've been thinking recently that I'm starting to tire of the formulaic trope ridden 'epic fantasy' genre .. I just think I've had my fill of it and I'm increasingly finding myself being drawn to other fantasy sub-genres. Every now and again I'll dip my toes back into epic fantasy (I started reading Blood Song yesterday for example), but on the whole I look for something a bit different from the majority of books that are thrust in my face whenever I walk into a book shop or when I'm browsing online. Comments from the chat room suggest I'm not the only one feeling this way, but my question is I guess, have we been subjected to too much epic fantasy over the past X years, and are we growing bored with this sub genre which, let's face it, is by far the most successful one currently.
please help. thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
