This is my friends computer. his brother built it and bought cheap (insert strong word here) parts. He's having network card issues. I've decided that there's nothing wrong except that it just won't work. he's not banned through the school and can ping on campus, but no internet. the thing installs in the computer fine. I've done all the debugging and playing possible, but it won't get internet access. his cdrom. his first one this year died, it would spit out all cds wihout reading them (yes, open the tray back up). I replaced it on loan to him with a used one of mine and he had a working one. just today he said that it's died too. There's only one thing in common between the two. the psu. so could it cause these problems? He's pledged to give me the computer at the end of the year. I plan on cannablizing it, perhaps replace some parts and make it into a second machine for me and I want to figure out what's wrong.
